Advisory Board
NeuroVive has a Clinical and Scientific Advisory Board, whose members extensive experience and unique knowhow in treatment of brain injured patients and in the design of clinical trials.
The members of the Company’s Advisory Board are as follows:
Per-Olof Grände
Per-Olof Grände is a physician and professor. He is Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at Lund University Hospital and has been awarded a number of honours for his innovative research. In conjunction with Carl-Henrik Nordström, he produced what is now known as the Lund Concept, which aims to prevent brain swelling in cases of traumatic brain injury after road accidents and falls, for example. This model is used in intensive care in Sweden and abroad. He has also published around 85 scientific papers.
Andrew Maas
Andrew Maas is a neurosurgeon and professor at the University Hospital at Antwerp, Belgium. He has been, and still is, involved in many committees and organisations on intensive care and brain damage. Maas is regarded internationally as being a specialist in designing and interpreting clinical studies of traumatic brain damage and has also been involved in organising a number of scientific conferences on traumatic brain damage.
Carl-Henrik Nordström
Carl-Henrik Nordström is a neurosurgeon, professor and consultant at Lund University and Lund University Hospital. He designed the Lund concept mentioned above, together with Per-Olof Grände; he has also been involved in developing a method using cerebral microdialysis to evaluate new treatment principles in patients with serious cranial damage. Prof. Nordström has won many prizes for his research work and is often invited as guest speaker at conferences and universities all over the world. He has authored and co-authored some two hundred scientific publications on neurointensive care and other subjects.
Bertil Romner
Bertil Romner is a professor at the Rigshospital at Copenhagen University. From 1985 to 2006, he was a neurosurgeon at Lund University Hospital, where he also lectured. He has also published around 85 papers and given presentations at many conferences, on brain and brain injury and other subjects.
Håkan Widner
Håkan Widner is professor, consultant and clinical manager at Lund University Hospital. He continues to be an active member of many pharmaceutical companies’ Advisory Boards and has given presentations at a large number of international conferences. Prof. Widner was one of the people behind the original patent to protect nerve cells using cyclosporine-A and has won many awards for innovative clinical research. He is also a partner in NeuroVive via Maas Biolab, LLC.
