Research and development – Cyclophilin-D-inhibiting cyclosporine-based drugs
Product development
The company’s product development is comprised of cyclosporine-based cyclophilin-D inhibitor drug research and development. NeuroVive’s first product, NeuroSTAT®, is now fully developed. The product must now undergo clinical trials to reach patients.
Research and development
NeuroVive is also involved in research and development into other natural and semi-synthetic variants of cyclosporine and other ways in which the body transports and uses the active agent. There are a number of potential products here which have no effect on immune defences but still affect the mitochondriae present in brain cells.
These products could potentially be used to treat prolonged epileptic seizues (status epilepticus), stroke and spinal cord injuries. The research is well advanced, and many of the active agents being studied have documented use in humans.
